Corrections officers at the Milwaukee County Jail will be equipped with Tasers under an order by Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. issued after attacks on two officers, one of whom was seriously injured.

Clarke has ordered the sheriff’s office training bureau to design a protocol, policy and training to expand deployment of Tasers, which now are issued only to jail supervisors, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Two inmates at the jail are facing charges in connection with attacks on officers during the past seven days.

Sam Edward Jones, 47, of Milwaukee, allegedly struck a 45-year old male corrections officer March 31, causing a concussion, a fractured sinus and facial lacerations, the sheriff’s office said.

Jones was charged Monday with battery by prisoners for an alleged attack, according to court records.

Jennifer M. Principe, 33, of Kenosha, who is accused of punching a female officer in the face on Friday night, was charged Tuesday with battery by prisoners.
