Stephanie Robin Lamberty
Pender County law enforcement officials have closed their case against a Laney High School assistant principal suspended from her job last month over allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Sheriff Carson Smith said Thursday that no criminal charges would be filed against Stephanie Robin Lamberty, saying there was no substantiated crime.
The New Hanover County school system suspended Lamberty with pay in June pending the results of an investigation into the allegation.
The New Hanover County Sheriff‘s Office initially looked into the case, but then handed it over to Pender County because that is where Lamberty lives.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office also did not issue charges before giving the case to Pender County authorities.
Calls to school system officials were not returned Thursday evening.
